500!

Finally! Last week I crossed the 500 miles ran mark.

Running Update

I have been meaning to post a bit of an update on how my running has been going, but I just never seemed to get around to it. I have actually been running since early ’07, but I had to quit in October after I hurt my knee. I decided to give my knee a break and see if it would eventually stop hurting, but it did not, so in December I went to my doctor and had to have physical therapy done on it. The therapy did help a lot and I felt it was finally time to start running again and get back into shape.

iPod = Dead (or not)

Well looks like my iPod has finally kicked the bucket. It was the original 40GB click-wheel version with monochromatic screen and could not play video.

On Saturday I had the iPod on at work and it was working just fine, then I ran to get lunch and had it on in my car, once again no problems. After lunch I went to use it and nothing happened when I tried to press play, so I figured I had the hold button on. I looked and it was off, so I toggled it off and on a few times, but no luck the screen stayed blank. Next up I thought maybe the battery had died, so I plugged it in, but once again, nothing. When I got home I plugged it into my computer, but it was not recognized. I opened it to check for loose wires, but all seemed to be okay.

I did some searching and the basic conclusion I came to is that the iPod is dead. If it was the battery then it should have still worked plugged into a power source. I believe it is probably the logic board. One thing I am trying is leaving it plugged in and just waiting to see if it comes back to life, which is the only real suggestion I found. Although I am not holding my breath.

I will most likely be getting a new iPod fairly soon. I am thinking the 80GB Classic. I have been wanting a new iPod, so that I can play videos, but I was hoping that my current one lasted a little while longer.

Update: After leaving my iPod plugged into a wall outlet for a few days it came back to life. I disconnected it from power after a few days and tried to reset it one last time and I finally saw the apple logo, but it would not get past the apple. Next, I plugged it into the wall outlet again and reset it. This time it booted up just fine. I have been using it for the past few days and it seems to be working just fine. So, if your iPod wont do anything I highly suggest just leaving it plugged in for a few days before you fork over the cash to replace or repair it.

Sad iPod.

This past Saturday I went to use my iPod and Sad iPod is all I see. I went to the website the iPod says to go to. I first tried to reset it many times, using Play and Select, no help. Then the website said to connect it to my computer and try to restore it. Problem is the iPod is not showing up on my computer, so I am unable to restore it.

So, I am basically getting the idea that the hard drive is dead. I tried searching for solutions, but the consensus was that it had to be sent away for repair. I am sure Apple would want way too much to justify having it repaired and it would make more sense just to buy a new one.

Luckily, when I got the iPod back in July 2004 at BestBuy, I went ahead and got the 4 year warrenty for $40. So, I went up there to GeekSquad and told him I had the Sad iPod icon. He took the iPod typed up the info and said I should have it back in 10-14 days.

I can tell you I already miss it. I hate having to carry around all of my cd’s. I used the iPod everywhere, my car, work, etc.

Insert some title here…

Well the new mini iPods suck. 1/4 the space for only $50 less, total rip off

Thursday I played in the screensavers LAN party, Halo. Had time for 2 games, I finished 6th in the first game, then 7th in the second. Not too bad considering it was a 16 person free-for-all. Later that night I went out and played a couple games of pool, lost 3 games to 2.

That’s about it, nothing has been going on lately.

Top questions and mini iPods…

Yahoo has put together a list of the top 10 questions asked in 2003. I think #1 is funny as hell. Link

There are lots of rumors floating around about MacWorldExpo and what Steve Jobs will announce during his Keynote speech. The big rumors is mini iPods that will hold 400-800 songs and cost arounf $100. They will also be flashed based, which is better if you like to jog or workout while using.
